Pluto is the most distant planet from the sun. Pluto is actually smaller than several of the moons that orbit other planets. Pluto is an average of 3.67 billion miles (39.5 AU) from the sun. It has a diameter of 1412 miles and a mass of 1.27e22kg. In Roman mythology Pluto is the god of Hades. Pluto was discovered by Clyde W. Tombaugh in 1930 at the Lowell Observatory in Arizona. Pluto is the only planet that has not been visited by a spacecraft. Pluto has one moon named Charon. Pluto has a highly eccentric orbit and at times it is closer to the sun than Neptune.
