Care, use, and safety information

About operating and storage temperatures

  • Operate and store your Pocket Hard Drive in a place where the temperature is always between 0 and 70º C (32 to 158º F).
  • Operate your Pocket Hard Drive in a place where the altitude is always between -60 and 3,048 meters (-200 to 10,000 feet) unless you are in a pressurized cabin such as in a commercial aircraft.
  • Store your Pocket Hard Drive in a place where the altitude is always between -60 and 12,192 meters (-200 to 40,000 feet) unless you are in a pressurized cabin such as in a commercial aircraft.
  • Don't move your Pocket Hard Drive from cold to hot temperature areas or from hot to cold temperature areas if the temperature gradient would exceed 20º C per hour.

Avoid wet locations

To reduce the chance of shock or injury, do not use your Pocket Hard Drive in water or wet locations.

  • Keep your Pocket Hard Drive away from liquids such as drinks, sinks, bathtubs, shower stalls, and so on.
  • Protect your Pocket Hard Drive from rain and other moisture.
  • Take care not to spill any liquid on your Pocket Hard Drive. If you do, disconnect it from your computer before cleaning the drive.

Avoid strong magnetic fields

Your Pocket Hard Drive stores information on magnetic media. Do not place your Pocket Hard Drive close to strong magnetic fields. Exposure to strong magnetic fields may cause the drive to fail or lose data. Seagate is not responsible for lost data.

Repairs

Do not attempt to make repairs yourself. There are no user-serviceable parts inside and opening the case voids the warranty. Contact Seagate support for information about returning the drive for service.

Cleaning

Follow these general rules when cleaning your Pocket Hard Drive:

  • Disconnect your Pocket Hard Drive from the computer before cleaning the drive.
  • Use a damp, soft, lint-free cloth. Avoid getting moisture in openings.
  • Don't use aerosol sprays, solvents, alcohol, or abrasives.

Handling tips

Your Pocket Hard Drive was designed to be carried and used in a wide range of conditions; however, your Pocket Hard Drive may be damaged by improper storage or handling. Be careful not to drop your Pocket Hard Drive, especially when the light in the center of the drive indicates that data is being written to or accessed from the drive.
